New club kick starts recycling at Lyons Township High School

During a recent phone interview about the Lyons Township Recycling Club, club co-sponsor Will Meuer was temporarily distracted by a school P.A. announcement, ironically enough, mentioning the LT Recycling Club. The timely interruption served as proof positive that the burgeoning club is “making news” in its inaugural year at LT.

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis, UK, has announced that it will publish the journal Environmental Technology with effect from Volume 29, 2008. A monthly publication, the journal is seen as a key title in applied environmental research, covering environmental biotechnology, environmental and sanitary engineering, industrial waste management and hazardous waste disposal, air and water pollution control, solid waste management, industrial hygiene and associated technologies.

When you think of polluters, dentists aren’t typically the first thing that comes to mind.

“The amount of waste generated from the dental industry is minuscule. I mean, minuscule,” said Dr. Jennifer Howard, D.D.S. “But everything helps. Anything you can do to make some sort of an impact is always good.”

Howard tried to cut down on pollutants and build an environmentally friendly office when she opened her dental practice, Isle of Wight Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, on Gumwood Drive in Smithfield in 2007.
